Diamond Jubilee Celebrations 2012
Despite the weather, the Queen's Diamond Jubilee Celebrations in Pilton and Bradiford mostly went off well although not all undrenched. The Picnic, Games and Tug-of-War at Bradiford House escaped almost un-wetted on the Saturday and everyone had a brilliant time. The result of the Tug-of-War - the prize was shared - is reported on the Jubilee Tug of War page.
A display of nearly 400 Jubilee Cards from ALL the Pilton Schools, Pilton House and Pilton Residents was put up in Pilton Church Hall over the Jubilee weekend (2nd - 5th June 2012) and a selection of nearly 93 can be seen in an album being kept as a memento. Quite a few of Pilton's people brought in historical material about the village and their houses for The Pilton Story and a dozen groups were brave enough to do the Treasure Hunt although it threw it down most of the time!
On the Monday, Pilton House had a genteel tea party on their lawn and an audience of thirty-five later watched the two Festival films from 1982 and 2009.
Unfortunately, on Tuesday the heavens really opened and the Rolle Quay Inn Street Party took place mostly inside the Rolle Quay Inn - although they still had a good time.
Below are the overall programme for the Pilton and Bradiford Diamond Jubilee Celebrations and pictures of some of the preparations.
Practice started in the Windsor Arms for the Challenge Tug of War between Pilton and Bradiford for the brand new Jubilee Cup at Bradiford House which took place on the afternoon of Saturday 2nd June and was shared by the two villages. |

Residents and staff at Pilton House Residential Home got in the mood early for a celebration of the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee at a 1950s Tea Party which took place on the afternoon of Monday 4th June despite the weather. |
